2009-10 Calendar Year Message from the President
The Northern California Chapter of IPMA-HR Board of
Directors continues our commitment in the planning of interesting and
worthwhile activities. In Calendar 2009-10, there will be a variety of
educational training opportunities offered and the Chapter’s Annual
Conference in the spring of 2010. I want to encourage your participation
and involvement with Chapter activities from now until June 30, 2010. Also,
please inform a colleague of joining NCCIPMA with our membership period
beginning in November 2009 for the Calendar Year 2010. Your Chapter
membership will automatically provide you with an affiliate membership to
the National IPMA-HR by receiving their weekly HR News Bulletin on timely
issues pertaining to the public sector human resources management.
The Chapter is kicking off the year with a “Social and Networking Event” on October 1, 2009 in downtown San Jose at the Loft Bar and Bistro from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Please come and bring a HR colleague to the event for a nominal cost of $5.00 per person. Other events in the planning stages are: November 18, 2009 – Luncheon Seminar on “Labor Relations” in San Leandro; January 13, 2010 – Luncheon Seminar on a “Legal Update”; and our Annual Conference on March 4, 2010 at the Shannon Community Center in Dublin, CA. The continuing series of Professional Development Workshops are being planned from March 2010 until June 2010, with a one-day format instead of a two-day format. This change is being made to reduce the workshop cost from previous years in an effort for members to participate during these difficult financial times of budget cutbacks. IPMA-CP certification training will again be sponsored by the Chapter as a benefit for members pursuing this credential.
More information will follow on these activities through e-mails to the membership and updated information posted on the website. I look forward to seeing you at one of the Chapter’s Seminars, Workshops or at our Annual Conference.
