Upcoming Lunchtime Seminars / Topics
TBD What are Lunchtime Seminars? During the year, NCCIPMA hosts round-table forums for local public agencies to come together to learn from one another. Public sector practitioners from all levels within an organization - senior management, department heads, analysts and city/county managers and their staff(s) gather to discuss common problems and solutions, network, share successes, suggestions, ideas and answers to timely challenges. The seminars are a wonderful opportunity to meet with your colleagues that are doing the same work, with similar situations, and hear from each other. Designed as lunchtime sessions in a specific venue, the locations revolve with various HR departments hosting luncheons. These seminars are open to all Chapter members and non-members as well. We attempt to invite as many public sector HR specialists as we can to share ideas, practices, and questions. Each date will focuses on a specific topic. Since this is a relaxed round-table setting, new topics, participants are encouraged to bring up ideas and experiences throughout the session. If you are currently a member, I encourage you to tell a non-member human resources colleague about the benefits of joining NCCIPMA-HR. Your Chapter membership will automatically provide you with an affiliate membership to the National IPMA-HR, and you will receive the weekly HR News Bulletin on timely issues pertaining to public sector human resources management. Membership dues are $60 per person for Calendar Year 2010. This annual membership fee, which has not been increased since the 1980’s, is an increase from the $40 fee charged in 2009. The reason behind this increase is for the Chapter to recapture most of the added national affiliate fees of $25.00 assessed to each chapter member. National IPMA has been charging local Chapters affiliate fees since 2007, with the NCCIPMA-HR chapter absorbing these fees over the last two years. In order to maintain the financial stability of our chapter, the Board decided to cease subsidizing the affiliate fees for 2010 and beyond. However, the Board will maintain the cost of activities planned for this year at a nominal fee. Also, the $60 membership fee is consistent with the membership fees charged by other Chapters and represents a mere $5 per month investment into your own professional development. I thank you for your continued support and participation in NCCIPMA-HR. Sincerely, Rob Caughell Rob Caughell, President NCCIPMA-HR Senior Human Resources Analyst City of San Leandro |
